Sunday Stills, Cats

This weeks challenge was to take pictures of cats.
I use to have cats, now I have these two.
The cats all live at the neighbors.

Cabin Update

Your right, that's a lot of concrete.
The walls were poured awhile ago.

The black Bituthene (a water barrier) is put on.
It sick to the concrete and with a name like Bituthene,
I'm sure you can prouble tell what the crew calls it.

This is the impression the wooded form walls leave in the concrete.

After all the forms are taken down and cleared out, the footing for the
slab are dug and more steel is used.  Bolts that hold the framed
walls are sunk into the wet concrete.

And there you have it all done and ready for framing, next spring.
This part of the cabin will be a work shop, storage and family room.

Today the crew is pouring the walls for the garage, on the upper level.
From now till the first snows, will be spent putting in French drains, back
filling behind the walls and grading the dirt, for next springs snow thaw.
It's a good start.

Counting Down

The last days of summer are counting down.
Fall is in the air, in the high country.

The Dogwood and Mountain Maples are showing color.
Chipmunks are busy gathering.
Yellow Cone flowers are all that remain in the meadow
and the Goose berries are ripe.

I Welcome Fall.

The Adventures of Ranch Dog and Her Sidekick George

"Holy Frijoles,  Ranch Dog, there's something up this tree."

"Your right, Sidekick Gorge.  I can't make it out, you run to the
 other side and report back."

"Holy Fuzzy Varmints, Ranch Dog !"

'There's a fuzzy varmint looking at us"

"I think it's one of those flying squirrels I've heard about.
This one seems to be Velcro to the tree."

" Lets run around the tree barking and see what it does ?"

(A loud voice from the back door)
"You two get the out of my flower bed"

"Look like she told you !!"

"Dang that's a long ways down,
would someone please get me off this tree."

Deadbeat Gardener

Yes !  I'm admitting it.
The kitchen garden has been pretty much functioning on it's own.
Oh, I water everyday and picking just what is needed for dinner,
but that's about it.

.

The weeds are taking over the walkways,

there's zucchini the size of footballs.

Can't tell my Day Lilies from the Johnson grass,

and the Basil's about to bolt !!!!!

Stumped !

"You Have Me Stumped"..... this is the comment left yesterday,
on the Wordless Wednesday photo.  It was a collage of pictures
I took of the foundation to the new cabin.

This is how they form the walls for the basement, by using plywood
wall forms.  Two sets of  wood walls are erected 10 inches apart,
sandwiching the steel grid between them.  The little red keepers
hold the walls apart 10 inches.  This chamber will be filled with concrete.

The "snap ties" with the red keepers, come threw the wood walls
and these lockers cinch down over them, keeping the wood walls
from blowing our when the concrete is being poured.

"
All of these braces keep "everything" in place till the concrete hardens
and all of this will be taken down to be used again for another job.
This is very labor intensive work.
