Thursdays Thoughts, "You can't expect to get good photos setting on a running snowmobile!"

It was a fun ride !!!

JS and I spent this last weekend at the cabin.

Our friends where up and we got together for dinner.

The next day was beautiful so we went for a snowmobile ride around the lake.

The snow was wonderful, about 18 inches of powder on a good hard pack.

Riding on powder is like floating on smooth water.

Had the camera along to take winter photos and thought I had some 

really good shots.  Till I put them on the computer, to see that the 

vibration of the snowmobile had make them all blurry.

Turning on and off the sled sounds easy enough, "If it was an electric start!'

No..... my sled is the...... "Put the rope type"

It's just more trouble then it's worth.

I'm thinking, maybe asking JS for a new machine with key start and reverse?

I'll get back to you with how JS liked that idea........LOL

Thursdays Thoughts, The Road Ahead

With the new year ahead, I feel the need to 

make some personal changes in my life.

"Nothing earth moving"

(I had sudden visions of my kids reading this and 

calling each other in a  frantic,

"What does Mon mean by that?"

and who's getting left with "DAD" ?)

What I mean, is being 

"Less of a Dreamer and more of a Doer"

I hope everyone is feeling as good today as you did last night....  LOL

"That's how my post yesterday was going to start !"

It was as lazy and nonproductive of a day as I can remember.

I didn't even finish the post.   Got a few things done, a load of laundry, (because we were out of towels) firewood brought in, 

 some of the decorations packed up.

I even cooked dinner, but everything was in slow mode.

The holidays are officially over and time to get my butt in gear.

Doing what, I'm not quite sure, there's always a long list.

I don't know if these are my best shots, but they are some of my favorites.

It seems that flowers and birds where the big theme this past year.

I'll see if I can't mix it up a little this coming year....... ;D

Testing Sugar

If you look on the internet, you'll fine many sophisticated 

devices to measure the amount of sugar in oranges.

Here at 5 Starr's Farm, I go pick one off the tree and eat it. 

 Seems to work just fine.....   ;D

Survived

Outside lights aglow, welcoming guest.

The perfect tree, lade with gifts.

One turkey, ham and prime rib, cooked to perfection.

Kitchen full of dirty dishes.

Four generations of grandparents, parents, siblings,

aunts, uncle and cousins all laughing together.

 House full of love ..... "Priceless"

First Pick 2012/13

The first orders of the season came in and we picked yesterday.

They're still showing a little green and the sugar in not quiet there.

Oranges are always better after the first of the year but, 

everyone wants them for Christmas.

This Picture was taken last Tuesday before the storms hit.

Five days of rain and unbelievable wind.

I think Californians drought may be over?

All these beautiful leaves are now on the ground, along with

several branches and a few big limbs.  A lot of cleanup ahead,

but today the sun is shining, the sky is blue and you can see

across the valley to the Pacific Coast Range.

I have to admit that I'm pretty superstitious.

"Thanks to the older women in my family"

I grew up with lots of old beliefs and sayings. Even now that

 I've come to understand them, it's hard to break old habits.

When I first read the challenge I didn't think I had anything to 

take a picture of.  You would think being superstitious, I would

have a "number" of lucky charms.

Then one day drive down the road, it was all to "obvious".

Oh.... I do have a luck charm.  The medicine wheel that's 

 been hanging on the sun visor in my Expedition for years.

I don't know if it brings me luck, but I like it.
